I bought an ILap stand for myself a year ago to use with my MacBook Pro, partly to dissipate heat. I use it every day while working long hours on a magazine. The second ILap was a gift for my son-in-law, who also uses his laptop constantly for his job. I looked at other styles by other manufacturers (with fans, etc.) but this is by far the best choice. When I spoke by phone with an Apple tech this year about a battery issue, she told me SHE has the same ILap and recommended it. No-brainer.

Customer Rating: - So Glad I Chose this One
I recently purchased my first Mac, a MacBook Pro. LOVE IT! So, next I wanted a laptop cooler or platform for laptop use. I shopped a lot of them. Originally, thought I wanted a laptop cooler with fans, but based on reviews it didnt sound like they are all they are cracked up to be. I finally decidd on the iLap stand by Rain Design. It came today and oh man, it's great. I've been using it all afternoon with my new Mac. The Mac itself is staying cooler. The aluminum stand apparently does pull heat away from the computer and helps cool the machine. The stand is comfortable on my lap and it keeps my legs cool while working. The padded wrist rest is comfortable and protects from the sharp corner edge on the MacBook Pro (one thing I dont like about the MacBook Pro). All in all, this is a great product. A little pricey, but worth it. I'm going to order one for my wife now. I feel confident you will be pleased too.

Customer Rating: - It saves me from the sharp corners!
I only bought this for one reason. The sharp corners on my macbook pro were killing my wrists. I know I'm not supposed to be sitting down with my wrist resting on the edge, but that's how it is. This thing is saving my wrist, and that's that!

Customer Rating: - Great Product, but a bit pricey?
I love what the product does, but I feel like for the price I paid it leaves something to be desired.

Starting with the good stuff - the iLap is the perfect accessory for the MacBook Pro and has made it so much easier for me to work by reducing neck and wrist strain. The clean lines (without the wrist pad) compliment those of the laptop. It's great that they included the gripper pads to be used in case the feet of your laptop wear out. I'm definitely glad I have it.

The not-so-good stuff - I was a little disappointed when I first took it out of the box. Not impressed by the cover on the wrist rest. Looks like the same material used on a cheap sofa pillow. It produces this clattering noise (from the back leg) when you're carrying it. I have to wonder if the fact that you can't secure that leg is going to cause a problem later on down the line.

Maybe the solution to making this the PERFECT $50 product is to snug up the connections on the back leg and include a selection of snazzy "slip covers" for the wrist rest. Or maybe I should get busy and make my own? ;-)
