This was a gift for someone close, we just plugged the lamp, wait for some minutes to warm up and it began to work. Great gift, and really nice colors, even better when the room is completely dark.

Customer Rating: - Lava Lamp
This item was a disappointment to my mom. She was delighted with the idea of a lava lamp, but surprised that this one did not move as expected. As it warmed up, a slow blob moved into place and stayed put. Also we had to put the lamp on a timer so that it would not overheat. She loves watching the movement of things and had hoped this would work all day. It did arrive promptly and as described, but did not function like we had understood a lava lamp would.

Customer Rating: - Relaxing discovery!
Love the lava lamp! Beautiful color, and so calming! After a stressful day of work, I switch it on, let it warm up and just watch it move. It has the same calming effect of watching goldfish, taking a hot bath or meditating. What a wonderful discovery.
The only downside is that it takes up to 1 1/2 hours to get going (the colder my apartment, the longer it takes).

This is a very nice looking lava lamp. It's perfect for an office desk. Actually, it's perfect for my desk! Prior to purchasing this one I also considered purchasing the larger one but am very glad I went with this one. Anything bigger would have been overkill.
