Editorial Product Review: :12' Diameter, Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Skillet Cover. Review:This 12-inch cast-iron lid comes pre-seasoned (coated with Logic’s own vegetable oil formula and baked in hot industrial ovens) and ready to use; hence, the Logic in the name. Compatible with the 12-inch Lodge skillet, the lid even has two side flanges to cover the skillet’s pouring lips. Excellent at keeping in heat, steam, and splatters, the heavy lid will also fit the 5-quart chicken fryer and the 7-quart Dutch oven. Lodge’s legendary cast-iron cookware will last for generations.--Ann Bieri
Editorial Product Review: :10-1/4' Diameter, 3 QT, Pre-Seasoned Cast Iron Chicken Fryer. Review:Relive the vivid pleasure of childhood camping meals with this 3-quart cast-iron fryer with domed lid. Cast iron creates superior heat retention, heats evenly, and loves a campfire, unlike flimsier pans. Perfect for frying chicken, roasting potatoes, or baking cornbread, this 10-1/4-inch pan features tips on the underside of the lid that allow condensing liquids to drip and moisten the contents. While the skillet comes preseasoned to prevent food from sticking, it works best when sprayed or lightly coated ...

Lodge’s two-piece handle holder set comes with two festive black-and-red chili-pepper-printed mitts that ...

Editorial Product Review: :The one thing that probably discourages more people from purchasing and using cast iron is maintenance. Like carbon steel woks, cast iron cooking pieces require 'seasoning.' To many this is a mysterious or overly time-consuming process. Even if you treasure fond memories of eggs and pancakes cooked in grandmother's ancient, blackened skillet, you might have no idea how to turn your new pan into such a treasure. Fortunately Lodge has come out with the new Logic line, which has been evenly coated on all surfaces with an electrostatic spray ...
Sales of semiconductors in November indicate that consumer products such as LCD (liquid crystal display) TVs, digital music players, and other devices sold well during the holidays, the Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) said Monday.
November chip sales rose 2.3 percent year-on-year to $23.1 billion, the SIA said.
Unit demand has far outpaced last year. But falling chip prices have hurt industry revenue, the chip association said. For example, DRAM (dynamic RAM) bit shipments grew 25 percent in the three months through mid-December, but average selling prices have declined 20 percent over the same period.
The association also noted that rising energy prices and concerns about the sub-prime lending issue in the U.S. do not appear to have had a significant impact on consumer spending for the holidays, the SIA said. The group reiterated its forecast that worldwide semiconductor sales will reach a new record in 2007. But it will take a stronger than expected December selling season to reach the 3.8 percent growth goal the group had forecast earlier this year, the SIA said.
Investment banking firm Credit Suisse was not as optimistic as the SIA.
The November data was below normal seasonal trends, noted analyst John Pitzer, in a report on Monday. Even if December reaches its normal seasonal growth, 2007 industry revenue will only reach $255.7 billion, up 3.2 percent over last year. The growth percentage would fall short of the SIA's 3.8 percent target.
The slow November prompted Credit Suisse to lower its 2008 chip industry revenue forecast to 9.4 percent year-on-year growth, down from a previous target of 13 percent.
