Buyer Reviews
Average Buyer Rating: out of 5 stars

Customer Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - Poorly constructed scale, broke right away
I didn't imagine I would write a poor review for anything in amazon, but I'd like to caution people from buying this useless scale (expensive paper weight). I dabble a bit on ebay and I wanted to be more precise with my weight calculations. I thought this scale fit the bill since it can accommodate up to 5 lbs and seemed simple. Lo and behold, I used it once and I was unable to use it again. No matter how much I adjusted the needle, it doesn't calibrate to zero. Piece of junk. Reading from the reviews here, I'm not going to bother getting my warranty straightened out, I'm just going to stay away from this company (Pelouze).

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - It is what it is.
I was rather taken aback by other reviewers having issue with how the product is sold, packaged, or warranties, etc. Perceptions are indeed personal, therefore I'll not debate those issues, though I'll offer some insight.

As to the scale itself, I don't know what one would expect from a small, mechanical, spring-driven, analog scale. It isn't digital. It doesn't use batteries. It handles up to 5 pounds (on the scale readout, that it, though you could easily put 10 pounds on it with no damage). It's accurate. Exceedingly so. Roughly 5 by 5 and 6 inches tall. It works. It's reliable.

It isn't meant for anything other than postal weights. If you're weighing parts for, say, a soapbox derby then you'd do best with a larger scale and one that is digital (and far more expensive). For letters, packets, small boxes, etc., it's better than OK, it's very accurate, reliable and darned good.

To the warranty issue; mine has, as stated in writing on the included usage guide, a lifetime limited warranty (abuse and neglect not being covered). Instructions for returning are very clear. However, I can't see paying packing and postage both ways for warranty serice when these can be had for around 30 dollars.

To the face plate replacement issue; let me first say you are by no means REQUIRED to replace the scale. Ever. It's a matter of convenience if you so CHOOSE to replace it. The scale reads, from 1 to 5 pounds, in 64th pounds with 4th pounds indicated as 1/4, 1/2 and 3/4. From 0 to 1 pound, the scale reads in half ounces, with whole ounces (1 to 15) clearly marked. If you only need to know weight, you NEVER have to change the scale face plate. In addition to weight, the face plate will also tell you the PRICE of postage for that weight (1st class, Express and Priority). As postage rates increase over time, if you WANT the scale to tell you the price, then yes, you'll have to replace it. They are available about 2 to 3 months before rates go up, but not every store carries them. They'll carry new, in-box scales witht he new face plates much sooner than they'll carry replacement face plates for your existing scale. A little calling around to local office supplies or searching the web will find you a new face plate. HOWEVER, please note they are pricey, being about one third the price of a new scale.

To the device itself, though, I have to give 5 stars. It has limited use, yes, but so does a go-cart. A great go-cart shouldn't be compared to a Lincoln Towncar. Products should be compared to direct competitors, and in that range, this little scale is a winner.

Customer Rating: 1 out of 5 stars - I NEED A NEW FACE!!
I BOUGHT ONE OF THESE SCALES (MODEL K-5) ABOUT 6 MONTHS AGO BEFORE I KNEW POSTAL RATES WERE GOING UP. I WENT BACK TO OFFICE MAX TODAY TO BUY A NEW FACE WITH THE NEW RATES ON IT FOR MY $30.00 SCALE. TO MY AMAZEMENT, I COULD BUY THE ENTIRE SCALE WITH THE NEW FACE (PACKAGED SEPERATELY) IN THE BOX FOR ANOTHER $30.00. BUT I COULD NOT BUY THE FACE BY ITSELF. RIDICULOUS!!!
NEEDLESS TO SAY I WILL CONTINUE TO DO THE MENTAL GYMNASTICS THAT IT TAKES TO FIGURE OUT THE NEW RATES USING THE OLD RATES ON THE OLD SCALE

Customer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - Works for Me
I bought this to sell my old stuff (or stuff I no longer needed) on Ebay and Amazon Marketplace. Mainly DVD's, CD's, books, video games, etc. I found that it has been totally accurate when I've gone to the post office to mail the items. The scale is small and compact. I like it and it suits my needs.

Usually we're fans of Logitech's gaming mice, but its highest-end G9 Laser Mouse is expensive, overly complex, and lacks the ergonomic thought we've come to expect. If you like to brag about dot-per-inch limits, perhaps the G9's 3,200dpi laser will be enough to sell you, but for the price, we expect the design to match.

Small and light enough for a shirt pocket, Samsung's Helix YX-M1 is a one-stop audio entertainment center with an XM radio, a digital music player, and room for 50 hours of tunes, but it comes up short on battery life.
