Customer Rating: 4 out of 5 stars - awesome for a scientific calculator!
This calculator is really great. A nice upgrade on the regular TI-30XIIS. I hate the <> button because it's where the "+" button should go. But if you just need a basic scientific calculator, or need to do some basic statistics, this calculator is perfect. Not nearly as awesome as the TI83 or TI89, but when you're not allowed to use those calculators for whatever reason this new calculator is way cool! MultiView rocks and so does the pretty math type!

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - Extremely capable despite the low price
My work involves a lot of exchange rates and foreign currency conversions. Really I was looking for a calculator I could program. Enter the exchange rate (which vary from day to day), other conversions like the factor from lbs to kilos. But time was short and a shop with the more expensive programmable calculators meant a special trip into town.

Here in Australia Officeworks (a sort of stationary Home Depot warehouse) have a very liberal return policy (7 days if you're not happy). So on this basis on a Friday night I bought a TI-30XB which is the battery version of teh TI=#)XS with a very attractive bright green in place of where the blue is on the 30XS.

This calculator has the abilty to store 6 constants x,y,z,a,b,c. So in my case I have 2.20468 stored as "x" (this converts lbs to kilos), AUD/USD exchange rate as "y"

For my work the mathview and relatively large screen are excellent. The calculator turns itself off automatically after a few mins if you're not using it. But if you turn it back on, you can scroll back miles if you wish and see all your old calcuations. Plus if you add 2+2 for example you on the next line down use that answer (ans) to do another calc.

While not strictly programmable I've used the data view (there's a data button to access this) to set up a table showing conversions from USD lb to AUD kg.. one of my main conversions. You can change costs in the first column and they reflect in the 2nd.

I'm trying to go digital here and away from printed Excel pages with conversions etc. Since getting this calculator, all the other calculators in the office are gathering dust. The two features above have me equally won.

For my applications this calculator although not small does the job. Over time we will see if we need a more sophisticated one but at the moment this is working beautifully.

Customer Rating: 3 out of 5 stars - Too basic....
I had been researching calculators for use on standardized exams now that many of the graphing calculators are banned.

The HP 33/35 calculators are too expensive and too "antiquated" to be of any use to me. I liked the TI-30XS MultiView because of the large display, but I later found out the 30XS MV lacked many features found on the Casio FX-115ES. After evaluating the FX-115ES and TI-30XS MV, I came to the conclusion that the FX-115ES is by far the superior calculator. However, if you've been used to the TI line of graphing calculators (I cut my teeth on the TI-82 over a decade ago, upgraded to the TI-83, TI-85, TI-86, and finally the TI-89) the TI-30XS MV is very intuitive and easy to use. Unfortunately, it is too basic of a calculator. For example it is unable to evaluate integrals or differentials and there is no direct option to select different logarithm bases using the 30XS. The 30XS also lacks the ability to process matrices. One would imagine the creator of the TI-8x graphing calculators would make a versatile scientific calculator, but instead we end up with a child's calculator.

Pros: Affordable scientific calculator, dual-power supply (Solar and battery), TI interface (intuitive for existing TI users), nice display

Cons: Funky hard-cover (doesn't slide in place like all other TI calculators), lack of features (not a BIG issue if you like doing extra steps on a timed exam).

Bottom line: I recommend looking at the Casio FX-115ES instead of the TI-30XS MultiView, although the TI-30XS MV isn't a bad calculator. I just felt it was too basic at the price. The FX-115ES is about the same price but has more features.

Customer Rating: 5 out of 5 stars - This calculator gets an A+++
I really love this calculator. The screen is larger than normal-sized scientific calculators and Texas Instruments is a very good brand. It definitely allows me to do my work much faster, which is especially helpful on tests.

PROS:
Ability to see other variations of the same answer
Solar and battery powered
Worked out of the pkg, no batteries needed
Nice size buttons for big thumbs
Comes with a small manual that shows you some basics
Ability to see previous calculations (up to 14, I think)
Lightweight
Seems very durable, come with a cover
"Mathprint" view of inputted calculations [LOVE THIS!]
Contrast control of screen

CONS:
No other color options offered, only blue
A little big, about 6.5" tall and 3.5" wide

It is definitely a bargain at the price being offered if you do not need graphing capabilities! I have been very pleased.
